2024-2025 Marks 50 Years of RPUFSD Excellence
The Rocky Point Union Free School District celebrates 50 years of educational excellence.
This school year marks the milestone anniversary of the first Rocky Point graduating class of 1975. During Superintendent’s Conference Day on Sept. 3, seven members of the Class of 1975 were welcomed and presented with Rocky Point letters.
Those members – several who still live in the local community - Susan Christian Gallo, Liz Hoffman, Bob Inzalaco, Nicholas Koridis, Bill Reitzig, Andrea Giammalvo (nee Romano), and John Schmidt shared heartfelt best memories about favorite coaches and classes, school trips, the first prom, their educations and careers following graduation, and the importance of education instilled by many teachers in the district.
Dr. O’Brien also recognized long-time Board of Education trustee and past president Mrs. Susan Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan (nee Susan Yeardin) was a foreign language teacher in 1975 and spent her entire career in Rocky Point before transitioning to an administrative role as Rocky Point High School Assistant Principal. After she retired and to this day, she continues to serve the students of Rocky Point as a valued member of the BOE.
